The biggest highlight is not only the tough early-round draw but also Anna Hursey’s doubles partnership with Shi Xunyao at China Smash. Tom Jarvis, world No. 45, opens against world No. 3 Sora Matsushima of Japan. Anna Hursey, world No. 37, faces wildcard Leong On Na (No. 475) in the first round, with a potential blockbuster against Miwa Harimoto later. The back-to-back scheduling of Macao and China Smash is a deliberate strategy to maximize training continuity and high-level match exposure. Hursey will partner world No. 16 Shi Xunyao in the women’s doubles at WTT China Smash, a partnership described as “eye-catching.” The pairing also gives Hursey access to top Chinese coaching, including Ma Lin, an Olympic gold medalist, and John Murphy.
