About Us
In 1998 we opened Main Street Trading Company (now The Period House) in the quaint town of Milford, Ohio, which is inside the Cincinnati beltway.
Specializing in the very finest American craftsmanship centered around Early American Decorative Arts, Period Furniture, Lighting, and Folk Art.
Within a few years, we outgrew the 1826 brick Georgian building that we were in, so we moved our shop a few buildings down the street into a beautiful Greek Revival complete with large columns, wainscoat walls, and beautiful windows. Additionally, we renamed the store from Main Street Trading Company to The Period House.
Today, we continue to be passionate about American wares based on 18th & 19th century styles. As an example, our furniture is among the finest around with spectacular natural and painted finishes. We have the finest pewter, redware, candles, ironware, and tinware available. Chandeliers, table lamps, farm tables, pencil post beds, accessories, and plenty more for the period home are available at The Period House.
And finally, many of you have commented on our logo, the sackback windsor chair and shaker candle stand. We established that logo many years ago to represent our our love of pure, clean, unadulerated designs of the 17th & 18th centuries. The chair and table, each were built by us in our own work shop. Yes, we are furniture designers/builders. |
